New France 1969

Each year marks an anniversary. 2019 is not an exception as fifty years ago, Nana did her second solo tour here in Quebec.

She came two years before, but in the meantime, her popularity didn’t stop increasing. In order to satisfy the demand, she extended her circuit to the Côte-Nord and New Brunswick. Her program was different from the previous one. In fact, it was the concert given at the Olympia Theatre in Paris during the fall of 1967, completed with the most requested songs of her latest album "Je me souviens".

Since her last visit in our homeland, many things had changed for Nana. She became a star in France, she remade her international repertoire thanks to her TV series at the BBC and she was mom. Also, Fernande, her nanny accompanied them to look after her little Nicolas. They rented an apartment in Montreal on McGregor Avenue during the duration of the tour.

Nana was at her second Québécois winter, but this time, she felt its consequences; during several days, she got a severe influenza and a snow storm forced her to wait at the hotel. During the interviews, some journalists tried to make her speak about the political situation which prevailed in Greece. During her concert in Toronto, some Greek people shouted at her to sing Theodorakis, a prohibited musician who has been jailed by the Colonels.

During this tour, Nana presents her first concert on Canadian television. For one hour, she sings live fifteen songs in the TV show "Zoom". The host, Jacques Boulanger, also converses with her.
