WEISSE ROSEN AUS ATHEN (first German compilation)

During several years, the compilation "Weisse Rosen aus Athen" was the witness of Nana's first German era. First published in the Netherlands in 1967, this album was then released in many countries with the English title "White rose of Athens". It includes some of her early hits like "Weisse Rosen aus Athen", "Einmal weht der Südwind wieder", "Rote Korallen" and "Ich schau den weissen Wolken nach". Also "Strasse der hunderttausend Lichter" and "Die grosse Liebe ist vorbei", two songs adapted in several languages. From that period five important titles are missing.

AM HORIZONT IRGENDWO

Most of the early fans remember her first Dutch TV appearance. Invited at the Grand Gala du Disque in 1962, Nana sang "Am Horizont irgendwo". In Germany, the song reached the 4th position and remained in the charts 16 weeks. Then it was included in the first German album in 1963. After the disappearance of the single, we had to wait its digitization on CD in the 90s before being able to get it again.

DIE WORTE DIESER NACHT

"Die Worte dieser Nacht" is the German version of "À force de prier" that Nana sang at the Eurovision in 1963. That TV Appearance allowed the music lovers of the old continent to put a face to her name. Strangely, this song wasn't successful in Germany. It will be rereleased 48 years later as bonus track on the album reissue "Weisse Rosen aus Athen und ihre grossen Erfolge" on CD. In order to satisfy the numerous collectors of the Eurovision Song Contest, the participants' performance will also be released on DVD.

WO IST DAS GLÜCK VOM VERGANGENEN JAHR?

"Wo ist das Glück vom vergangenen Jahr?", an unilingual hit, earned Nana the silver medal at the Deutsche Schlagerfestspiele in Baden-Baden in June 1964. During eight weeks, this Love song appeared in the German charts and reached the 17th position. After the disappearance of the 45 rpm, it fell into oblivion and will be rereleased in 1993 in a Reader's Digest CD box set. Nowadays, the Net surfer scan see and hear the television performance of that time.

JOHNNY TAMBOUR

Nana made a real classic of this Christmas theme by recording it in five languages. Whatever the time of year, she includes it in her singing recitals. And even after decades, it is timeless. While the French studio version was included in all compilations since 1965, the German one remained unreleased until 1992. However, since Nana keeps it in her Repertoire, "Johnny Tambour" appears in her live albums "Eine Welt voll Musik ","Concert '80" and on the DVD "Live in Berlin". Each time, her interpretation is as fresh.

EINEN SOMMER LANG

The main theme of the musical film "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" was one of her first international hits. For her fans, Nana recorded several versions; in French, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese and in English. But wherever she is, Nana sings it in the original language. Released in the German album of 1966, "Einen Sommer lang" remained available a couple of years. However, this potential song wasn't released as a single like the previous ones and went unnoticed. Its reissue and its digitalization are still to come.
