Return in the Hexagon

December 2014 and January 2015 marked Nana's return on the French stages with a series of 11 concerts. These were long-awaited because during her farewell tour, which lasted four years, only Paris was scheduled.

Like at the Palais Garnier, in 2007, the evening begins with the video recalling her singing career and her social and humanitarian commitment. In order to follow the new concept, the program takes place without intermission. So Nana has a unique stage costume; a plain red dress or with black spots. Depending on the location, her first song varies; one in Greek or in French.

In the different theaters of the Hexagon there are spectators from past years and those who come for the first time. To everyone's satisfaction, Nana sings her big hits like "L'amour en héritage" and some old songs that she popularized and that show her belonging to France of which "Pauvre Rutebeuf". In addition to the sentimental ballads that made her famous and that defined her style like "Tous les arbres sont en fleurs", Nana interprets more cheerful pieces including "Quand tu chantes". And to vary her program, she approches soft jazz, a style in which that audience is less accustomed to hear. The French are charmed by her interpretations of "Smoke gets in your eyes" and "Over the rainbow". To that, let us highlight the remarkable accompaniment of her four musicians: Luciano plays piano, Philippe, percussion and saxophone, Pili, bass and Yannick, guitar.

With so many performances in their country, the French fans are spoiled. One of them, Jean-Pierre Bardoux, wrote to me: « Vocally speaking, we found Nana at her best...The interpretation of " Plaisir d'amour" is still masterful (especially the final notes). Great moments of emotion also with "Le temps qu'il nous reste" and "Je chante avec toi liberté".»

Since the beginning of the birthday tour, Nana's daughter was a guest artist during her show. On January 15, Lénou gave her last performance as she has new projects. All those who have seen and heard her have only kind words about her as she was perfect in the duets with her mother as much as in her solo songs. We can ony wish her the best of success.

Nana hasn't performed in France for a long time and her last original album dates back to 2002. However, the fans remember and were present. They came to see and hear again a singer who had one of the most successful careers in their country. They expect her next return and till then doubtless hope a new album.
