The
site...already one year!
One year has already passed since the launching of
the site. I thought that it would be interesting to share with you the
various steps which brought it to it's realization. On September 25, 2004, the biographical text A LIFE,
A DESTINY was put in network in my first computer. Then, I concentrated with
the writing of the other texts and with the translation in English and
Spanish. Two months later, I was ready to start with the French and English introduction
pages. During the weeks which followed, Philippe, my technician created links
for the files BIOGRAPHY, PHOTOS IN CONCERTS, DEDICATION, WEBMASTER, TV
APPEARANCES IN QUEBEC 2000-2004 and RECORDINGS ALPHABETICALLY. For the
DISCOGRAPHY BY COUNTRY, we did not succeed in finding a suitable presentation
due to the expanse of the file. So, we were satisfied with classification by
languages. In January 2005, we added the COVERS OF MAGAZINES
and created a third identical page in Spanish. The first idea while launching
my site was to set it up in the three most widespread western
languages to present to as many people as possible. Philippe had
made a model of the welcome page with my picture. However, knowing that Nana lived a great part of her
career in Germany, I told myself that the fans from this country deserved a
space in their language. So, when a friend of mine assured me that he could
revise my texts, I decided to launch a 4th page. Even before March arrived,
the German section was born. A link has been created for UNICEF while the
files TVs and the Magazines were found in the section MEDIAS. It only
remained to find a forum without publicity and a counter for each section. As
I don’t have the training of a computer scientist, I had to learn with
various technical problems which delayed the setting up online of the site.
Time went by and we were only within a few days of the 40th
anniversary of Nana’ first visit to Quebec. While hoping to be on
time, I created MONTREAL 1965, a flash on the past which makes us understand
the origin of Nana’s bonds with this country. On May 4, the site was finally
on the Web with the address www.nanamouskouri.qc.ca. During the following days, I
carried out the launching by sending 300 emails. I received encouraging
messages from fans in several countries. The main Nana’s Websites kindly put
a link in a prominent position towards mine. With these rewards for all this dedication, I know
that it is only a beginning, that my site is still to build. If it was
mostly in texts, I had to enrich the visual side. Apart from the files PHOTOS
IN CONCERT and MAGAZINES, there were very few photos. During the school
holidays, I added more for the biography and especially for the TV file
by capturing them from DVD. Several fans let me know about the originality of
the shots. For the section LINKS, there was now a visual of each site.
Links were created in the CONCERTS page and for the shops, so that it is
possible to buy online. It was a summer well filled for the realization of
the site. During the autumn, I elaborated the section MEDIAS
with concert reports in Oceania and Asia and by adding the links of the
electronic press. The discography by language was enriched with details and
the record covers. With more than 500 scans, the site did not have the same
look as at it's beginning. To recognise the time of year as it was then, the
theme of Christmas was used as an entrance page before yielding its place to
a gallery of drawings. A moment of satisfaction well enjoyed! Sometimes, it
takes months to finalize a presentation and once it’s online, it is already
necessary to think of those which will follow. Thus, all the files to be
added monthly are planned until 2008. Thank you Philippe for your technical support, mom
for your tips, Helga, Jim, Albert for your corrections, Kathy for your
reports, Céline for your scans, Simone for your drawings. Your invaluable
collaboration made it possible to preserve the quality of the site through
its transformations. Thank you also to all of you who visit me and who keep
me so enthused. |
